The sun was shining and it wasn’t raining, so we bundled the kids in the car and took them to Lake Eacham, Crater Lakes National Park. What a fabulous location up on the Atherton Tablelands.
When family visit, I usually have a few local places to visit and one of them is a good swimming spot.
My nieces also agree with what it has to offer as per their website which boasts: ‘blue lake surrounded by cool rainforest… Lake Eacham offers swimming, birdwatching, canoeing, picnic areas and shady walking tracks. It is a popular recreation area for locals and visitors.’
Looks like lots of fun! It’s still way too cold down here in Ballarat at the bottom of the country for swimming. Lots of my friends have gone up north for the school holidays, and from their FB posts it looks like they’re having a great (and warm) time.

Atherton Tablelands is about a comfortable 25-27C at moment, water was fairly cold but the kids just loved it.

I can’t wait until the weather warms up here in Melbourne so we can all enjoy some outdoor /water activites. It’s still too cold here at the moment.

That does look like a special spot and I am pretty sure I visited there on a day tour of the Atherton Tablelands in 2010. That is a magical area of Australia! Thanks for linking up. Denyse

It looks lovely. Have never been any further north than Airlie Beach. Would love to go to at least Cairns but hubster grew up in north Qld so he is not interested in holidaying up that way!!!!

Set in lush rainforest area. The council created paths so you could walk along the banks of the crater lake.

Fantastic. Too cold for me, but the four girls just loved splashing around.

There’s something so awesome about stairs that go straight into the water. It’s like you’re being so well encouraged to enjoy nature.

Never thought of it that way. They extended the stairs and made a flat concrete floor which extends out about 3mx15m so that little kids can stand.
